Whether it’s food, makeup or clothes, do what you love and love what you do – even if it’s for free.

Stylist and freelance fashion and beauty writer, Jennifer Choy, dropped by the FSHOPPE to talk beauty, inspiration and how she made her passion her career.

What’s your wardrobe must have for transitioning weather?

I love those longer vests. Zara had this beautiful one, it was kind of expensive, but I loved it so much and I knew it would be one of my staples that went with everything, it was camel, it was gorgeous, it was neutral, so I think that’s my favourite transitional item.

What are you currently obsessing over?

Justin Bieber!

I actually hate him, but his last two songs have been very good.

Where is your favourite place to seek inspiration? How do you keep constantly inspired?

I know this is so cliché, but I read a lot of fashion magazines. I’m not one of those people that could just walk outside and be like, “OH the leaves,” I just love magazines, whether it’s online or it’s print, that’s kind of where I get my inspiration from.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten? And did you follow it?

I used to work in a different world. I worked in PR and communications for a couple years and I really hated it. I used to confide in my friends all the time and just be like, “What do I do? I don’t know what I want to do” and someone very wise told me that I should find something that I love and figure out a way to make money off of it.

I feel so lucky because I wake up and I actually like my job even though it’s kind of annoying some times, but every job is going to be like that.
