Toronto in Bloom: #FGoes to WMCFW SS16
October 26, 2015
Style fiends in the city spent the weekend draining the last of the champagne and nursing sore feet – Toronto Fashion Week SS16 is over!
The 6ix bustled with activity from October 19 to 23 as World MasterCard Fashion Week took to the tents at David Pecault Square. Street style photographers were working overtime, capturing the city’s most stylish and next season’s most coveted looks. We spotted fresher takes on autumnal favourites, fur and leather, in a palette of spring-appropriate pales, creams, and pinks.
On the runway, the #FSQUAD couldn’t get enough of the beautiful botanicals, shoulder grazing, and pops of punchy colour. Here are just a handful of our favourite #FFinds:
Coming Up Roses
Floral may be a spring staple, but this season’s are anything but ordinary! We loved the prints and silhouettes at Lucian Matis and playful textures at Mikhael Kale – their ingenuity makes all the difference.
Shoulder detailing was everywhere in New York, London, Milan, and Paris – Toronto got the memo! Whether left bare or highlighted with a twist, shoulders are the next season’s piece de resistance. Matthew Gallagher’s runway closer is the epitome of SS16 chic.
Mikael D knows the way to a fashionista’s heart – shoulder details, intricate florals, and a pop of colour! Couldn’t take our eyes off this stunner, nor his entire collection, for that matter. Couldn’t help but notice that tangerine hues took over the runway at Stephan Caras too!
Taste the Rainbow
Nail art has made a huge comeback as of late, and we’re glad to see it’s sticking around for spring! The rainbow bright tips at Hayley Elsaesser are such a day brightener, and we can’t wait to DIY them with our favourite essence polishes.
It’s been a long week for many of us, but SS16 was definitely one for the books. There is absolutely no shortage of Canadian talent in fashion, and we can’t wait to see Toronto in full bloom as these looks go from the stage to the streetcar come spring.
