MODEL MONDAY: Sid
January 30, 2017
Meet Sid. She is our Spot 6 Management feature of the week. This creative beauty started out behind the camera studying Photography at Ryerson University before she realized she was destined for a career in modeling. This knowledge has helped Sid stand out and make a name for herself in this competitive industry.
Q: Tell us about yourself – what makes you, you?
I’m a really creative person. I studied Photography at Ryerson, so modeling was a natural next step for me since I was so comfortable to being on set and around the camera!
Q: When did you start modeling?
I started modeling 2 years ago when I was 22. It was always in the back of my mind, so I took matters into my own hands and went to the Spot 6 Management website. After submitting photos, Cynthia contacted me within 10 minutes and my career took off.
Q: What was your all-time favourite photoshoot?
I love photoshoots in which I get to wear weird or outrageous outfits. I find that it is more fun and easier to work with because you can push the limits and try different poses.
Q: What is your favourite thing about your career?
Traveling, meeting new people, and working with creative people. Also, I love that I have a unique understanding with photographer because of my experience behind the camera.
Q: How do you stay fit?
Orangetheory’s HIIT workout is one of my favourite ways to stay fit. It’s non-stop cardio and weight training for an hour!
Q: Tips for being confident on camera?
I like to embody whoever the stylist or art director makes me up to be for the shoot. That way I can take on different personalities and have fun with it.
Q: What motivates you?
Every day is a new day and a fresh start.
Q: What is your favourite cheat treat?
I’m a self-diagnosed sugar-addict. I love candy. Skittles, starbursts, really anything gummy or sour satisfies my sweet tooth.
Q: What is your best advice for aspiring models?
Be persistent, never give up. One person will turn you down and another one will love you.
Q: What drives you out of bed in the morning?
Work, because there are new opportunities each day.
Q: When you aren't modeling where can we find you?
Shopping. Hanging out with my friends. In terms of hobbies, I go through phases. Right now I’m into artsy things like drawing and calligraphy.
Q: If you could invent one thing to make your life easier what would it be?
Instant-Makeovers for mornings when I want to sleep in I could snap my fingers and be ready.
Q: Favourite Toronto hotspot:
Ossington. I love the shops and restaurants there.
