Grammy Awards 2013: Best Dressed, Hair & Makeup
February 12, 2013
Sunday night all of us Faulhaber ladies were snuggled up at home watching the 55th annual Grammy Awards. In the days leading up to the awards we had our fingers crossed that Frank Ocean would take home one (or three!) awards, we were taking bets on who would have the most scandalous outfit and who would lip sync during their performances. On Monday morning in the office we all came to pretty similar conclusions, surprisingly, on the best, worst, hits and misses of the night.
Best Dressed Women
We know some are critiquing Beyoncé’s outfit for being too casual but we think Beyoncé is one woman with enough style and grace to turn this Osman black and white crepe jumpsuit into red carpet gold.
Next up, T Swift whose silver and white gown was anything but casual. We think she looked simply stunning in the J. Mendel silk chiffon gown, our only critique is that her hair should have been more edgy but it still did not take away from the beauty of her gown.
We loved Adele’s hair and make-up but it was her dress that made her really stand out. The mix of patterns was perfectly daring.
Last, but certainly not least, Rihanna. Rihanna’s custom Azzedine Alaia gown is the perfect mix of sweet and sexy. The sheer panels offset the romance of the full skirt and the colour drives us wild. Spoiler alert - this is not the only time RiRi will make it onto our best list!
Best Dressed Men
Wiz Khalifa and Miguel both pulled off the black and white look really well. Their clashing stripes created the perfect chemistry for their performance. Let’s just say we love Wiz in Tom Ford!
Mario Lopez stood out in a sea of blue and black in his perfectly tailored maroon suit.
Though Jack White wore a classic black suit he brought edge to his look by pairing it with a black tie and shirt.
Amidst a sea of faces with too heavy eyeliner and too much bronzer these three ladies stood out for their fresh faces. We love the matte red lip on both Alexa and Rihanna and Kelly’s nude lip really makes her eyes pop, especially her long lashes.
Carrie Underwood had an overall great look at the Grammys but we were especially fond of her hair and how it framed her face and showed of her gorgeous necklace.
We all love a natural beauty so of course we had to vote Solange’s curls for best hair. Her natural curls give her a realness and confidence that no other red carpet woman had.
How could Rihanna’s hair not make it to top three? The classic center part with loose waves has so much body and movement, it is easy to tell that she loves it herself. Ombre perfect!
