#FREPS: Design Exchange ChangeMaker Awards

Earlier this fall, Design Exchange launched EDIT: Expo for Design, Innovation and Technology. Over the course of 10 days, the public was invited to experience the power design thinking has in solving some of the world’s most pressing problems. The future-forward programming featured 125 speakers, 50 exhibits and 40 workshops, transforming 150,000 square feet of an abandoned Toronto factory (formerly the Unilever soap factory) into an immersive event that championed innovations in healthcare, food production, education, and more.

In partnership with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Design Exchange also introduced its first-ever ChangeMaker Awards which took place during the EDIT opening night celebration. The awards recognized visionaries who have made significant contributions toward EDIT’s theme Prosperity for All. Canada’s very own Ian Campeau, noted activist and founding member of the JUNO award-winning band, A Tribe Called Red, was one of the four recipients. As a thought leader, Campeau has made a significant impact on empowering indigenous communities by speaking out for social justice and identity-building.

ET Canada caught up with Campeau onsite at EDIT to chat about the future and how to save the world. You can check out the full interview here.
