DUY wins over the runway at the Mercedes-Benz Start Up Final Showcase
October 26, 2012
A true highlight of this season’s World MasterCard® Fashion Week was by far DUY’s big win at the Mercedes-Benz Start Up final showcase. This Tuesday, in front of a packed house, Montreal designer Duy Nguyen showcased his SS13 collection along with seven other finalists from across the country, including Caitlin Power, Christopher Bates, Dreamboat Lucy, Lauren Bagliore, Malorie Urbanovitch, Nicole Campre and Pure Magnolia. DUY won over the judging panel, which included industry names like Jeanne Beker, Bernadette Morra and Robin Kay, with a mix of structured designs, sophisticated flowing fabrics, hints of mint and pops of red. The standout look? Baggy denim pants, a knit tank and intricately woven shawl. DUY will be featured in a Fashion Magazine editorial and will present his latest designs in a solo runway show at next season’s fashion week in March 2013. Stay tuned for more from the talented designer.
Mercedes-Benz Start Up is produced in association with the Fashion Design Council of Canada and IMG Fashion, and gives up-and-coming Canadian designers a national platform to present their collections to top industry insiders in Canadian fashion.
