Biggest career highlight? (so far)
When I won my first big WTA Tour Title in Stanford in 2008, competing against top 10 players including Serena Williams and Marion Bartoli. I became the first woman from Quebec to win a Title on the Pro WTA Tour and become a career high of #21 ranked in the world on 1155 WTA Players (in June 2009). My recent career highlight was when I went to the Olympic Games in London last July 2012. I dreamed of going to the Olympics and representing my country since I was a little girl. I made history by becoming the first woman to represent Canada in Tennis (in singles).
What do you love most about what you do?
I love competing around the world in different stadiums packed with amazing cheerful spectators. I get to learn about different cultures in new cities that I get to travel to for tournaments.
What do you do in your downtime?
I like watching movies, spending time with my family and friends and reading books.
I cannot live without…
My phone! It keeps me close to my family when I travel around the world. It’s how I stay in touch with everyone.
Dream dinner date?
Dinner at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant, overlooking the lovely city of Paris :)
If you could describe yourself in five words, what would they be?
Five words that would describe me best are: 1. World-traveller 2. Tennis Star 3. Ambitious 4. Dreamer 5. Fashionista
Favourite place in the world?
I love Montreal and also Australia because it feels just like home. The people are friendly there; very laid-back and the lifestyle is like ours here in Canada - but without the snow!
Motto to live by?
Live in the moment!
If you weren’t a professional tennis player, what would you be?
After tennis, my second passion is fashion. I would have loved to become a fashion designer. I like to draw sketches of dresses in my spare time. I would have liked to have my own little boutique in Montreal, or maybe even have my own talk show!
