Internships are an amazing opportunity for recent grads and college students to gain experience in the industry.
At FAULHABER, we’re always looking for the best and brightest up-and-comers to join our 12-week internship program. As these ambitious individuals prepare to graduate or dive into their careers, I’m proud to know that FAULHABER is a place in which passionate young professionals turn for a taste of the amazing (and crazy) lives we lead as PR pros.
The Faulhaber Internship Program is a huge asset to our team. Our interns play a pivotal role in the productivity of our agency. But it’s not for the faint of heart. When interviewing interns, we’re often asked about the keys to success in the program. My response is unequivocally the following five internship tips:
Always Be Thinking Two Steps Ahead
At FAULHABER, we don’t believe in being on the ball, we always want to be ahead of it. We anticipate clients’ needs before they even realize they need them, we stay ahead of industry trends and news, and we can provide expert advice to our clients to ensure they’re getting the best possible results. I advise every intern (and every employee) to read avidly, be up-to-date, think two steps ahead, and work smart.
Dress Like You’ve Already Got the Job
I’m a strong believer that when you dress for success, your day follows suit. Look polished from head to toe. The FAULHABER team always likes to have a fresh face and wardrobe.
Do Your Homework Before Your First Day
When you join our Internship Program, you’ll be immersed in a diverse range of clients. Get to know our client roster before you begin your internship so you can provide hot new ideas and present great opportunities.
This industry is all about networking and establishing yourself as a PR pro. Networking amongst friends and colleagues while forcing yourself to become a part of a bigger circle is the best way to get your foot in the door.
Be Curious, Ask Questions & Add Value
You don’t ask, you don’t get. Taking initiative and asking for feedback shows both your managers and myself that you are taking your work seriously. I love to see interns diving deep into their positions and exceeding expectations.
