Behind-the-Scenes: Press Junket in Berlin, Germany
December 19, 2011
Hobnobbing with celebrities like Poppy Delevigne and Elettra Rossellini Wiedemann (granddaughter of Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini), wining and dining with international media, and some serious retail therapy at Europe’s largest department store, KaDeWe. All in a day’s work! Who ever said PR wasn’t glamorous? Take a behind-the-scenes look at our trip to Berlin for the launch of Thomas Sabo’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection.
Eat: When in Europe for a press junket, cultural immersion is always encouraged. In order to remain on point one must be well-rested and well-dressed, but most importantly, well-fed. We highly recommend satisfying your palette with a real culinary experience at FACIL restaurant, located in the heart of Berlin. We were impressed to learn that chef de cuisine, Michael Kempf, is the youngest (he looks about 25, but is actually in his 30’s) Michelin-star chef in all of Berlin. What impressed us even more was his food. Vibrant vegetables and exotic herbs give his dishes an exciting mixture of Asian and Indian-inspired flavours.
Shop: After your cravings have been satisfied, browsing the boutiques is a must. If you’re looking for a spectacular one-stop-shop to impress your guests, KaDeWe department store is the place. The over 100-year-old luxury department store has a whopping 60,000 sq m of sales space and some 2,000 employees. During this particular visit, CF and guests were treated at Dermalogica's skin care clinic within KaDeWe and then whisked to the upstairs eatery for bubbly.
Fun fact: Christine’s surname and agency name, Faulhaber, comes from German origins. We traced it back to the famous Roman Catholic Cardinal Faulhaber of Munich. There’s even a street named after this distant-distant relative. See below:
Event: On December 6, Christine along with international media, Thomas Sabo representatives and a beautiful group of international celebrities and models, celebrated the event that spurred this trip overseas. Thomas Sabo’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection was unveiled at the swanky GOYA Berlin. Mr. Thomas Sabo, man of the hour, explained that he purposely chose St. Nicholas Day for the unveiling of this collection because of the historical significance. It was a day of celebration and gift-giving! Here are some photos from the black carpet:
