3 Things: Rules of Thumb for PR Wardrobe Professionalism
January 16, 2013
As a communications agency with fashion & beauty clients, we definitely know a thing or two about dressing for the office in our line of work. Here’s what we’re wearing today and a few tips for the fashionable PR maven.
Always rock your client – If you’re in fashion PR in any way, take every opportunity to wear their garments, accessories, and shoes. Few people know their brand quite like you, and what better way to show your support than to wear some of your favourites from them? PR is basically a 24/7 gig – you never stop being a brand ambassador, wherever you are.
Don’t go too casual – There’s nothing wrong with a casual shirt or even a pair of jeans (no tears, rips – the darker the wash, the better), but be sure to pair it with some more dressed up or professional pieces, like a fashionable skirt or button down blouse. Blazers always help bring an outfit to a more professional level, too.
Don’t forget about footwear – Heels are ideal in an office setting, so be smart about your footwear choices. Boots, platforms and even dressed up flats can all be good choices for work, but remember to avoid sky-high heels, sneakers, Birkenstocks…you get the idea.
By no means do we think your outfits should be blasé. Wear your favourite designers, don’t be afraid to be a little bold with mixing prints & colours, but always be presentable and professional – who knows who you’ll run into at work.
